Intro
My name is Carl “Calle” Börstell. I am a professor of linguistics at the University of Bergen (UiB), Norway.
I am the leader of the TEIKN research group at the University of Bergen and an affiliate of Vadim Kimmelman’s NONMANUAL ERC project.
Background
I hold BA, MA and PhD degrees in linguistics from Stockholm University, where I also received the title of docent in 2021.
Research interests
My research interests include
signed languages,
iconicity,
morphology and grammaticalization,
cross-linguistic and cross-modal comparison and
corpus linguistics and quantitative methods.
I also do programming, mainly for various sign language applications, using R and Python (see Software & Resources) and I’m also into dataviz (see my #TidyTuesday repository for some examples).
